Piyush Singh is Managing Director of IDC's Centre for Consultancy and Research (CCR), based in Bangalore, India. CCR is a fully-owned IDC subsidiary, which has been established to support IDC's international operations in the areas of market research and analysis, software application development, customer support, and other back-office functions.
Prior to starting up this new IDC subsidiary in India, Mr. Singh was the Managing Director of IDC Asia/Pacific, based in Singapore and was responsible for the management of IDC's regional business across the entire Asia/Pacific region excluding Japan.. He was appointed to this position in July 2000 and since then has consistently grown IDC's revenue and profits every year, in the region. Under his leadership, IDC's business in the region has expanded manifold and its staff strength increased more than two times to 340, in the span of 5 years. During this period, IDC also expanded its regional network of offices and established wholly-owned subsidiaries in Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia.
Prior to this appointment, Piyush held the position of Vice President, Consulting at IDC Asia/Pacific, based in Singapore and Hong Kong. He was responsible for IDC's consulting operations in the region, as well as IDC's Asia/Pacific Internet, IT Services, Software and IT Spending research programs. He has been with IDC since January 1994, and has been associated with the IT industry for the last 22 years in the functional areas of marketing, strategic planning and market research. During his tenure at IDC, he has worked on several assignments such as regional co-ordination of IDC's continuous market tracking research program, market forecasting, emerging markets research, distribution channels and numerous client-specific market research studies. He also initiated and launched IDC's Asia/Pacific research programs in the area of Internet & e-Business, IT Services, Software, Telecommunications, and IT Spending. He is widely quoted in the regional IT and business media on his views on industry developments and has been a keynote speaker at numerous conferences around the world. He has also been interviewed several times on TV channels such as CNBC, BBC, Channels News Asia, TVB, Beijing TV, etc. on IT industry trends in the Asia/Pacific region.
Piyush received his MBA (PGDM) from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore in 1989, and a B-Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1983.
