This IDC study focuses on the IP voice services market in 16 Western European countries. Forecast and analysis data is provided on the number of outgoing MoU that represent IP voice traffic. The study provides segmentation of the consumer market by IP voice MoU and IP voice revenues for outgoing minutes by call type (international, national, and mobile).
The information provided in this study is essential reading for IP service providers, broadband service providers, telcos, and Internet service providers that are interested in offering IP voice and related enhanced IP services to the European telecommunications market. The study provides data and analysis on current trends in the consumer IP voice market.
Overall, call destination (international, national, mobile) patterns for Western Europe VoIP MoU do not show a dramatic difference compared to call patterns for traditional PSTN calls. However, when reviewing each individual call access type (indirect, calling card, PC-based, and VoBB) the difference is more significant.
"Evaluating each individual call access type (indirect, calling card, PC-based, and VoBB) illustrates the differences in call destination patterns. As VoIP becomes increasingly mainstream these calling patterns will parallel that of the TDM market," said Julie Wall, European VoIP services analyst.
