Abstract

This IDC study provides a 2006 bottom-up sizing of and 2007–2011 forecasts for the online gaming subscription market. Historical and forecast revenue data is provided for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-member markets, comprising Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. This study also contains vendor-specific revenue and market share information by country.

"The ASEAN online gaming industry is fast-becoming a matured market, attracting foreign investments from the North Asia region. Massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) continue to contribute the most significant portion of the online gaming subscription revenue. Online gaming service providers (SPs) are investing on content development, storyboard creativity, and advance graphic design to generate more consumer interest in this segment," says Jun-Fwu Chin, senior analyst, Software Research, IDC Malaysia.
