Abstract

The consumer navigation market continues to offer a wealth of opportunities to vendors and service providers playing within multiple segments. This presentation is based on a joint survey effort between IDC and Telematics Update. The focus was to identify usage, purchase, and behavioral trends around navigation devices and services while understanding consumers' perceptions of navigation, their unmet needs, and mobility issues. The survey included both personal and business use of navigation products and services. Solutions includes portable navigation devices or PNDs, in-dash systems, outdoor/fitness devices, marine devices, and mobile phones or converged mobile devices (smartphones) with GPS capabilities. A portion of this presentation was previewed at the Telematics Update! 2008 conference in Novi, Michigan on May 22, 2008.
