Claus Egge has more than 20 years' experience in the IT industry as an analyst and consultant. He is currently in charge of IDC's European Storage service. His team is responsible for sizing and forecasting the following markets: European hard disk drives, European tape drives, European disk systems, European tape automation, European optical/removable, and European optical automation.
In his role as program director, Egge advises clients on market trends and opportunities. His responsibility also involves storage consulting projects exploring end-user attitudes and requirements. Egge is also frequently asked to present at end-user, sales training, and industry events, and to moderate panels and workshops.
Prior to joining IDC's Storage Systems group, Egge spent seven years with IDC's Asset Management Service as a storage analyst, where he was responsible for monitoring the storage market, advising clients on the financial implications of technology insertion. Prior to joining IDC in 1991, Egge worked in the IT operations department of a leading Scandinavian financial services corporation.
