As Vice President of Consulting, Dot Allen provides strategic analysis, market research, and business planning counsel to systems and software vendor clients. Specifically, she assists clients with designing, introducing, marketing, positioning, and pricing new and existing products; developing marketing communications and advertising programs, and creating compelling message statements; improving partner programs and practices to identify, recruit, and leverage relationships; identifying and targeting high-opportunity market segments; and improving product and service quality through customer satisfaction measurement. A highly skilled marketing professional with more than 25 years of experience in market analysis and planning, she has managed hundreds of consulting projects since joining IDC in January 1995.

Prior to joining IDC, Ms. Allen was a Senior Marketing Manager at Sun Microsystems, where she managed information publishing ISVs, served on the commercial strategy team, and acted as product manager for Sun's system management products. Before joining Sun, Ms. Allen managed market analysis for five years at Xerox Engineering Systems (formerly Versatec). Earlier in her career Ms. Allen also served as a marketing consultant at the Institute for the Future, Technology Decisions, Inc., and SRI International (formerly Stanford Research Institute).
