Abstract

This IDC study provides analysis of and insights into the IT product and service buying behavior of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Philippines, based on a survey conducted by IDC. This study covers key IT market segments, hardware, software, and services. The quantitative data shows quantifiable opportunities that can be addressed by IT vendors and service providers (SPs).

"Cost reduction through improved business processes will be the key incentive for SMEs to undertake further IT adoption. Building strong customer relationships through a well-informed sales team coupled with a solid after-sales support will ensure business continuity with their SME clients. A paradigm shift in their IT expenditures illustrate that more and more firms are recognizing the importance of IT integration in their business processes. Moreover, SMEs in the country are becoming more meticulous in their IT spending, looking beyond price considerations and focusing much on the products' capacity to meet its requirements," says Bianca Pearl R. Sykimte, associate market analyst, IDC Philippine
