Abstract

Central Europe's VoIP services market has successfully completed the initial development stage and is now moving to the next. The supply side of the market is now crowded, and operators are shifting focus to actions aimed at attracting as many customers as possible. The main audience to target is PSTN/ISDN users. Though VoIP services still lack quality compared with PSTN/ISDN services, VoIP operators have a huge advantage in pricing. The market share of VoIP services will therefore increase quickly.

"Alternative fixed-line operators, cable TV operators, Internet service providers, and local VoIP specialists have introduced voice over broadband services. International VoIP operators have offered PC-based services. Incumbent fixed telephony operators have launched IP Centrex and have invested heavily in Next-Generation Network infrastructure. Central Europe's VoIP market is ready to take off." – Research Manager Kresimir Alic, IDC CEMA
