This IDC study provides detailed analysis, conclusions, and forecasts regarding the dynamics of the personal computer market in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) not covered in other IDC studies – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The information in this study is intended to provide an understanding of the changes and challenges facing the PC industry. IDC's 2007 figures and analysis are based on information gathered from interviews with the leading IT companies (vendors, distributors, assemblers, systems integrators, value-added resellers, and dealers) active in the region.
"The PC market in the CIS continued to grow healthily in 2007, exceeding the one million units mark. However, internal political instability and the worldwide financial crisis may inhibit its development. Despite the fact that the CIS markets remain extremely price sensitive, there is a visible trend in the region towards the adoption of notebooks as mainstream consumer products. This represents a major opportunity for international vendors." – Andrew Golovnykh, Senior Analyst, IDC CEMA
