Abstract

This IDC study examines Internet users' opinions toward user-generated content (UGC) on various platforms, including blogs, online forums, and social network sites, among others, using consumer surveys conducted in seven countries in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ region.

"As the Internet landscape in the region matures, UGC will continue to lead the growth of information online. Correspondingly, the methods to which enterprises harness these platforms for marketing purposes are also expected to become more varied and widespread, even while Internet users become more discerning of the content neutrality. With greater overall sophistication of this environment, trust in these user platforms is likely to be on the downtrend," says Debbie Swee, market analyst, Emerging Technology Advisory Services, IDC Asia/Pacific.
