Abstract

This IDC study provides customers' perspectives of and examines the business challenges, needs, as well as selection processes and criteria that came with the business intelligence (BI) software implementation of China Petrochemical Development Corporation (CPDC), a petrochemical manufacturer in Taiwan.

According to Sharon Hsueh, market analyst, Enterprise Solutions Research, IDC Taiwan, says, "Manufacturers have different priorities and needs compared with companies in other industries. They have, for instance, less need to discover customers and create markets. Instead, it is more crucial for them to control costs and meet profit targets at all stages of their business cycles. Vendors that want to target this vertical segment should bear these in mind in order to expand their footprints in Taiwan's large manufacturing industry."
