This IDC study presents an updated (2Q07 actual and annual forecast data up to 2011) look at the worldwide PC marketplace going forward. It is valid as of June 2007 and provides forecast and growth figures for PC shipments at the worldwide level and for key regional markets. Details include unit, value, and average system price (ASP) figures, including compound annual growth rates (CAGRs) for the 2006–2011 period.
"Worldwide PC shipments are projected to rise by 12.6% in 2007 to 257.5 million units. This projection represents a slight increase from IDC's previous forecast, reflecting a 28% year-on-year increase in portable PC volume and single-digit increases for desktops and x86 server shipments. This update increases projections for 2007 by less than half a point from the June 2007 forecast of 12.2% and increases the CAGR for 2006–2011 from 9.3% to 9.6%." — Doug Bell, analyst, U.S. Quarterly PC Tracker program
