This IDC study presents our worldwide and regional forecasts for the server market through 2011.
"IDC's forecast for the server market has been changed significantly from the previous forecast, issued in December 2006. Expectations for year-on-year growth of worldwide spending on server technology in 2007 is about 2.3%, to $57.1 billion. The engine for growth has been the volume server segment over the past few years, and we expect that to continue to be the case through the forecast," said Steve Josselyn, research director, IDC Enterprise Server Systems. "However, we believe the growth rates that were experienced in the past will moderate over the next five years, given the use of multicore processors in combination with virtualization technology. IDC expects the market in the first quarter of 2007 to grow 1.9%, to $12.9 billion."
