Abstract

This IDC study is the second of two studies based on a survey of more than 500 people involved in the purchase of monitors for their company. This survey takes a close look at key upgrade motivations, channel-buying factors, and recycling issues. Questions answered by this document include the following:

  • What percentage of a business' monitors does it purchase in between PC upgrades, and what are the key reasons for such upgrades?
  • Where do most companies buy their monitors, and what do they want from the channels where they do their purchasing?
  • How important is a recycling program to companies looking to upgrade monitors?

"A sizable percentage of business monitor purchases will continue to occur outside of the PC upgrade cycle. Monitor vendors can capitalize on this market by catering to the product and service requirements of such buyers." — Tom Mainelli, senior research analyst for IDC's Display and Projectors group
