This IDC study examines some of the inhibitors to the adoption of wearable technology. It leverages data from IDC's ConsumerScape 360 program, which polls respondents from around the world on wearable technology and other IT topics relevant to consumers.
"Wearable technology has made terrific strides over the past several years, but there still remains barriers to adoption," says Ramon T. Llamas, research manager with IDC's Wearables and Mobile Phones programs. "IDC's ConsumerScape 360 Survey data identified factors like 'no use for them [wearables]' and 'don't know enough about them' as primary reasons why users do not own a wearable device. Responses like these, as well as others, point to areas that companies need to address to drive attention and volumes."
