The following are IDC's key observations regarding Lexmark's expanded portfolio: Enhanced laser products. The new line of Lexmark printers and MFPs have been enhanced with faster speeds, smaller size, and integrated duplexing. The new color and monochrome laser products give Lexmark a greater presence in the 21–30ppm color laser printer/MFP, 31–44ppm monochrome laser printer, and 45–69ppm monochrome laser printer/MFP speed segments. Wireless printing capabilities. All of Lexmark's new devices come equipped with wireless printing capabilities. IDC believes that the interest in wireless printing is growing in the low- and mid-level market with a wide adoption of wireless networks. Consumables rewards program. A primary inhibitor to the color laser printer/MFP market has been the increasing consumer awareness of the cost of consumables. Originally geared toward inkjet users, Lexmark expanded its reward program to include its new color laser devices (C540 series and X543/X544 series). Customers can earn free high-yield toner and imaging kits by returning used cartridges to Lexmark for recycling or reuse. A new toner cartridge package includes all of the necessary ingredients for a simplified return process: the toner's original box, prepaid mailing labels, and return instructions.

Hardcopy Peripherals Update: Period Ending October 24, 2008

This IDC update provides a summary of product and corporate announcements affecting the hardcopy peripheral environments during the period ending October 24, 2008.

Hardcopy Peripherals Update: Period Ending October 17, 2008

This IDC update provides a summary of product, corporate, and marketing announcements affecting the hardcopy peripheral environments during the period ending October 17, 2008.

Hardcopy Peripherals Update: Period Ending October 3, 2008

This IDC update provides a summary of corporate, product, and marketing announcements affecting the hardcopy peripheral environments during the period ending October 3, 2008.

Hardcopy Peripherals Update: Period Ending October 10, 2008

This IDC update provides a summary of corporate and product announcements affecting the hardcopy peripheral environments during the period ending October 10, 2008.

Hardcopy Peripherals Update: Period Ending September 26, 2008

This IDC update provides a summary of corporate and product announcements affecting the hardcopy peripheral environments during the period ending September 26, 2008.

Hardcopy Peripherals: Production and Large Format Update, Period Ending September 30, 2008

This IDC update provides a summary of the product, corporate, and marketing announcements affecting the production and large format printing environments during the period ending September 30, 2008.

The Levant (Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria) Hardcopy Peripherals 2008–2012 Forecast and 2007 Vendor Shares

This study discusses the market for hardcopy peripherals, both single-function and multifunction. It does not cover point-of-sale printers or small-format printers featuring widths of less than eight inches. Neither does it cover wide-format (A0) products, sometimes known as plotters. The forecasts contain data for the Levant peripherals market from 2007 through 2012. Unit shipment, value of shipment, and ASP information is presented. Data for 2006–2007 is actual, whereas data for 2008–2012 is projected. "To succeed in the Levant, vendors need to be extra careful when positioning their product prices. End users in this region are highly price sensitive and do not have large IT budgets. Furthermore, channel support is incredibly important, as distributors require substantial financial assistance as regards tenders, promotions, and marketing activities." – Senior Analyst Mohammed Al Noueiri, IDC Middle East & Africa

Hardcopy Peripherals Update: Period Ending September 19, 2008

This IDC update provides a summary of product, corporate, and marketing announcements affecting the hardcopy peripheral environments during the period ending September 19, 2008.

Oman Hardcopy Peripherals 2008–2012 Forecast and 2007 Vendor Shares

This study discusses the market for hardcopy peripherals, both single function and multifunction. "The Omani market holds great potential for vendors as it remains undersized and its economical development looks promising. To succeed in Oman, vendors need to regularly support channels with rebate offers, marketing initiatives, and promotional campaigns." – Senior Analyst Rasheed Al Janabi, IDC Middle East & Africa
